How to move your Web Push subscribers to AWeber from another provider

You can automatically move subscribers from your old web push provider to AWeber the next time they visit your site. They won't notice a thing, and they will not be prompted to subscribe again.

Out with the old. In with the new.

Follow these steps to uninstall your previous Web Push provider and move website subscribers over to AWeber.

  1. Remove your previous web push provider's javascript snippet from your website. It's often a block of javascript code placed within the <head> tag of your website's HTML or just before the closing body tag, </body>.
  2. Remove the old push provider's service worker files from your website. Normally this is a javascript file located at the root directory of your site. For example, it may be located at https://www.yourwebsite.com/service-worker.js
  3. If you haven't done so already, set up your website for AWeber's push notifications.
  4. Send at least 1 web push notification from your past provider to get them to visit your website again.

You can encourage your website subscribers to visit your site again using a broadcast email or with a web push notification from your past provider. The old provider won't get any new opt-ins but you can still send notifications from them to get everyone moved over.

As visitors return to your site, their web push subscription will automatically move to AWeber. They won't be asked to re-subscribe. The reason you need people to visit your site again is because of a built-in security feature that web browsers use for web push. It's not something we can control.
