How do I move my Web Push Notification subscribers to AWeber?
In this article, we are going to walk through how you can automatically move subscribers from your old web push provider to AWeber. The subscribers just have to visit your site again, they won't notice any changes and they will not be prompted to opt-in again.
Step By Step Instructions
- First, you will need to remove your previous web push provider's Javascript snippet from your website. It's often a block of Javascript code placed within the <head> tag of your website's HTML or just before the closing body tag, </body>.
- Next, remove the other provider's service worker files from your website. Normally, this is a Javascript file located at the root directory of your site. For example, it may be located at https://www.yourwebsite.com/service-worker.js.
- If you haven't done so already, set up your website for AWeber's Web Push Notifications.
- Then, you will need to get your subscribers to visit your site again. You can encourage them to visit your site again by sending a broadcast or by sending a notification from your past provider. The old provider won't get any new opt-ins, but you can still send notifications from their services to get everyone moved over.
- As visitors return to your site, their subscriptions will be automatically moved to AWeber. They will not be asked to re-subscribe.
- Once that's done, you can collect new web push subscribers and send notifications to your audience via AWeber.
