What is a split test? (Definition)

Split testing is a method of comparing two or more unique strategies for your messages in a controlled experiment.

It is often used to test different subject lines or message content to increase response rates. You would divide your list into segments (typically 2, but you can use more if you wish) and send out different variations of your message to each segment. You would then compare the results of each message to see which variation performed better.
