Can I move subscribers from one list to another?

In some instances, you may want to move subscribers from one list in your account to another list. For example, you may want to move a subscriber from your 'prospect' list when they buy a product and get added to your 'buyers' list. You can accomplish this with List Automations.

Step By Step Instructions

1. Click the "Automations" tab and select "List Automation."
   
   
   
   
2. Choose the list that you want people to unsubscribe/move from from the "Active List" menu in the top-left of the navigation bar.
   
   
   
   
3. On the "List Automations" page, click the "Add Automation" button to get started.
   
   
   
   
4. In the "Edit Automation" box that pops over the page, make sure the "Action" is set to "unsubscribe from list [x] when subscribing to." Then, select the list that subscribers will be signing up to in the "List" drop-down.
   
   
   
   
5. Finally, click "Save."

Now, when subscribers sign up to the second list, they will automatically be unsubscribed from the first one!

What happens to the existing subscriber status if they are moved to another list?

Depending on how you've setup your list automation, the subscriber's status from 'List A' would remain the same or would be unsubscribed. Each subscriber's status would be specific the the list they are on, so if someone is added to a new list, that person could be found on List A and List B and count as a unique subscriber to each respective mailing list.
