How do I start imported subscribers on a specific Follow Up Message?

When importing your list of subscribers you have the option to have those imported subscribers start on a particular follow up message in your follow up series. So for example, if you did not want to start your imported subscribers on follow up message #1, you can choose to start them on follow up message #2.

If your account was created after 02/03/2020, the Follow Up Series feature will not be present within your account as this feature has been deprecated. Creating an automated series of messages can be done with Campaigns.

Step By Step Instructions

  1. Before importing your list of subscribers, open up your spreadsheet file where your subscribers information is currently stored.

    Open your spreadsheet of subscribers

Within that spreadsheet add an extra column for the follow up message number that you would like those subscribers to start on. In this example, we are setting it so everyone is set to start on follow up message #2 when they are imported. Once you have added that extra column, save your spreadsheet.

Add a column for the follow up message number

Note: You do not need to set all subscribers to start on the same follow up message number. If you want to, you can start some subscribers on a different follow up message than others. Just type in the message number of the last message they received. So, if you want people to receive message 3, import them as message 2.

  2. Now log into your AWeber account and start the process of importing the subscribers using your spreadsheet. Once you get to the step for "Map Subscriber Info," you will see the information for the first subscriber from your spreadsheet.

  3. Match each of the fields for that subscriber to the corresponding options from the "Subscriber Fields" drop-down menus. For the field where you put the follow up message number that you want the subscriber to start on, match it to the "Follow Up Number" option from the drop-down menu. In this example, we are matching the 2 to the "Follow Up Number" option from the drop-down menu.

Select Follow Up Number from the menu

  4. Just click the "Next: Confirm Opt-in" button once you are finished mapping your subscribers information and continue with the rest of the import process. There is one last step you need to take to ensure they are added to the series. On the "More Options" step, click the toggle to "Add to Follow Up Series." Then, select the option to "Start new subscribers at the message number mapped in my data."

Select to start them on the mapped message number

Once your import has been processed, they will start on the follow up message number that you specified!

Don't Have A Spreadsheet?

  1. If your subscribers information is not stored in a spreadsheet, you can still have them start on a particular follow up message number. When importing your subscribers just choose the option for "Type or paste subscribers."

Click the box to type in subscribers

  2. When you click on that option, you will be able to enter your subscribers information in the textbox manually, or you can copy and paste their information in from another source. Here you will want to make sure your subscribers data is separated by commas. Below you will see an example of how this information might look after it is manually entered.

    Type in the subscriber info

After you have manually entered your subscribers information, click on the "Next: Map fields" button at the bottom of the page. Then continue at step two in the directions above.
