How can I start a workflow?
In this article, we'll walk you through the different options available to start your workflow and how to use them effectively.
There are two options for how to start your workflow:
- "Add all new subscribers who join my list" will start the workflow as soon as someone subscribes to your list.
- "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag" will start the workflow when a tag is applied to a subscriber's information.
Step By Step Instructions
After you have created and named your workflow, you will be given options of how you would like to start the workflow.
Add All New Subscribers Who Join My List
- Selecting "Add all new subscribers who join my list" will start a workflow as soon as a subscribe joins your list as a full subscriber.
- You have the option to narrow down which subscribers you want added to the workflow.
- There are options to start a workflow based on different signup sources or information.
- The "Source" option can be narrowed down even further with options to start the workflow by specific add methods. These methods include API, Import, or Sign Up Forms. "Ad Tracking", is based on the Ad Tracking value assigned to a specific form, and "Country" is based on the subscriber's IP Address.
- You will now see the filter option you selected displayed within the "Starter" action.
Important Note: You have the option to designate multiple actions under the settings for your Starter. "Edit step" to click "Add another filter" to include another condition to start this workflow.
Only Add Subscribers Who Get a Specific Tag
- When you select "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag", the workflow will begin when your subscriber gets a tag added to their "Subscriber Information".
Important Note: The workflow will only start for subscribers that are tagged after the workflow is created and activated. If a subscriber is tagged before the workflow was created or activated, they will not receive any messages. You can easily add your existing subscribers to the workflow using another tag.
- You can specify these tags under the settings for your campaign.
- This information will be listed in the "Starter" action.
Note: You can use tags to stop people from entering a campaign sequence as well.
You're all set! Now that you've selected your preferred starter to your workflow, you can start adding actions to it. As your workflow grows, just keep in mind, you will be able to add and remove tags at any time for better optimization.
