How do I start a Workflow with a tag?
Using Workflows, you can start a series of targeted messages based on specific conditions. Starting a Workflow when one or more tags are applied is an excellent way to deliver personalized and relevant messages to your subscribers. You can also configure your Workflow to allow multiple entries, enabling subscribers to repeat a Workflow they’ve completed previously.
This article will walk you through creating a Workflow that starts when a tag is applied to a subscriber.
Important Note: The Workflow will only start for subscribers who are tagged after the Workflow is published. Subscribers tagged before the Workflow is created will not receive any messages.
Step By Step Instructions
- Navigate to Automations, select Workflows, and click the "Create Workflow" button.
You’ll have the option to start fresh with a "Blank Workflow" or choose from one of our Workflow templates.
- In the Workflow builder, choose "Tag Applied" as the starter for your Workflow. This starter begins the Workflow when a tag is added to a subscriber’s Subscriber Information. Then, you can list one or more tags, depending on how you want to target your subscribers, and the Workflow will start when any of the starter tags are applied to a subscriber.
Additionally, you can add exception tags to exclude subscribers who already have these tags. This ensures subscribers are excluded from receiving the Workflow, even if the starter tag is added to their information.
- Once you've finished, the tags you entered will appear in the starter section, confirming the conditions that will start the Workflow.
Pro Tip: You can also use tags to remove subscribers from a Workflow. This allows for even more precise control over your Workflow automation.
Congratulations! Your Workflow is now configured to start when a tag is applied to a subscriber’s information.
