How do I trigger a campaign with a tag?

Using Campaigns, you can trigger a series of targeted messages based on specific conditions. Starting a Campaign when one or more tags are applied is an excellent way to deliver personalized and relevant messages to your subscribers. You can also configure your Campaign to allow multiple entries, enabling subscribers to repeat a Campaign they’ve completed previously.

This article will walk you through creating a campaign that starts when a tag is applied to a subscriber.

Important Note: The campaign will only trigger for subscribers who are tagged after the Campaign is published. Subscribers tagged before the campaign is created will not receive any messages.

Step By Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to Automations, select Campaigns, and click the "Create Campaign" button.

You’ll have the option to start fresh with a "Blank Campaign" or choose from one of our campaign templates.

  2. In the campaign builder, choose "Tag Applied" as the trigger for your Campaign. This trigger starts the campaign when a tag is added to a subscriber’s Subscriber Information.

  3. On the right-hand menu, enter the tag or tags that will trigger the campaign. You can list one or more tags, depending on how you want to target your subscribers, and the campaign will start when any of the trigger tags are applied to a subscriber.

Additionally, you can add exception tags to exclude subscribers who already have these tags. This ensures subscribers are excluded from receiving the campaign, even if the trigger tag is added to their information.

  4. Once you've finished, the tags you entered will appear in the "Start Campaign: Tag Applied" section, confirming the conditions that will trigger the Campaign to begin.

Pro Tip: You can also use tags to remove subscribers from a campaign. This allows for even more precise control over your campaign automation.

Congratulations! Your campaign is now configured to start when a tag is applied to a subscriber’s information.
