How do I add existing subscribers to my Workflow?

In this article, we are going to walk through the steps to start a workflow for subscribers who were added to the list before you created or activated it.

With workflows, you can send automated messages at specific intervals to subscribers who sign up for your list. Workflows are not retroactive at this time, meaning, once you create and activate the workflow, only new subscribers who sign up after you activate the workflow will receive those messages. If you have subscribers on your list who signed up before you activated the workflow, they will not start automatically; however, you can manually start the workflow using tags.

Step By Step Instructions

  1. First, you will have to change the workflow starter to add subscribers who get a specific tag. Open the workflow editor and click "Switch Starter".

Choose "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag", and then add the tag you would like to use in to add subscribers to this workflow The tag can be whatever word or phrase you would like. Please note: if the workflow is already set to start on a tag, you will have to add a brand new tag in the "Only add subscribers who get a specific tag" section.

Once complete, click "Publish Changes" at the top of the view.

And that's it! Once the tag is applied, the subscribers you selected will enter your workflow. Depending on how many subscribers you are tagging, it may take a few moments to complete.

Once the tagging is complete, you can change the starter back to "Add as new subscribers who join my list" for the new subscribers added to your list going forward following the same process of switching the starter back to "on Subscribe".
